Our Story

How it all began...

It all started with cabin fever... literally. At the height of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the De los Santos family was engaged in online ministry isolated in the mountains of Western Pennsylvania. Since they were away from their overpopulated home of New York City and could not stand the cabin fever any longer, they decided to visit the closest big city around: Pittsburgh.

As they wandered around the bridges, hills, and greenery of this "small big" city, they stumbled upon the Cathedral of Learning of the University of Pittsburgh, where they learned of the 31 Nationality Rooms that honor the different ethnic communities that helped build that structure. It was then that they heard God call them to reach the nations in the Steel City.

And so, after almost two decades of living in New York, they travelled to Pittsburgh to plant RiverTree Church Pittsburgh!

Naming the Church...

God gave Randy and Selene the name RiverTree Church Pittsburgh from the scripture in Revelations 22:1-5
"Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life[b] with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever."

Where we are headed...

RiverTree Church currently meets as a house church in the De los Santos family home. Families, professionals, and college students from all walks of life and backgrounds gather together as a community. We are excited to move to Oakland in the fall of 2026 to be more accessible to college students!
